Tip No. 86
Q. Changing careers from... Outplacement childrens counselor to Human Resources or Consultant.
A. How about: A Human Resources position where proven strengths in the area of planning, problem solving and leadership, combined with excellent communication skills, will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of a Human Resources Department.
Trying to switch fields is very difficult. My suggestion is that you focus on networking rather than simply sending your resume to potential employers. Talk to your friends and ask if they know anyone in HR that could give you some advice on how you could best use your experience in the HR field. When you visit with HR professionals they will be able to guide you best on how to enter the market place.
