Tip No. 197

Q. I've been out of work for six months now, and have done nothing toward finding a new job yet because I wanted a break. Problem is, I've lost momentum and can't seem to get motivated and confident again. Help!

A. Think back to what made you feel motivated and confident in your last position. Chances are it had something to do with you knowing your role and having a concrete action plan to achieve your goals. You need that same thing now!

If you are unsure how to effectively approach a job search in today's market, visit your local library or university career center and read up on effective resume writing, interviewing and salary negotiation tips and most importantly, how to find success through the strategy of networking. I also recommend you consult with a professional career counselor for more personalized guidance, if needed.

Good luck!
