Tip No. 188
Q. How can I stop procrastinating? I am letting the weeks turn into months without a job. Help!
A. The words of Mark Twain come to mind when thinking about how to get down to the business of job searching. First, make it a point to do something everyday that you dont want to do. This is the golden rule for acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain. Perhaps it would make sense to make a list of all of the things that need to be done starting today. Keep track of your activity by writing it down. That way you can measure your progress; a journal is a tangible way to chart your activity. Additionally, you might try and set goals for yourself. Write down what needs to be done, and who needs to be called. Next, make a commitment to a friend that you are going to do what you said. Youll find that being accountable to another person is a good way to keep you on track.
