Tip No. 175

Q. Currently I went for an interview and everything seemed to go smooth and fine, but when the interviewer asked the question "How will you contribute to our company?" I was struck at the question. How should I answer this type of question?

A. With some advance preparation you can use the information already on your resume to assist you with this. Career Management International suggests that resumes include "achievement stories." Achievement stories, which are also called Professional Accomplishments, provide potential employers with examples of the tangible, definitive ways that you have already contributed to the success of other companies. Part of your work when preparing for an upcoming job interview is to find out enough information about the company before you go on your interview so that you can build a bridge between what you have done well in the past with any future challenges that you may face at this new company.
