Q. I have heard that a current industry trend is hiring people to do consulting work. Should my resume look any different than those of my peers? Should I use any specific buzz words?
A. Yes, consulting work is becoming a trend in many industries. It would be helpful to have several different versions of your resumes that are tailored to a specific job description. For example, you may put "Project Management Consultant" or "Geophysical Consultant" in the objective area of your resume to indicate the title of a specific project. Any "buzz words" should appear in your background summary; these are your marketable skills and highlight your current expertise in any given area.
