Tip No. 163

Q. I'm 44 and have taught and coached for 20 years. I have always supplemented my income with some sort of sales. I still hold a group one insurance certification. Is it too late for me to change?

A. My short answer is that it is never too late to change.

To give you a little more feedback, I would suggest that you first take inventory of your current teaching and coaching career to identify both the positive and the not-so-positive aspects this career is bringing you. You will also want to research the field of insurance sales and network with those in the industry to help you determine if this would be a good match for you. During your research, focus on gathering information related to what it will take for someone with your background to enter the field and find success.

A career change is almost always a viable option. You simply have to make the decision to change and then do the work necessary to get where you want to be. Just do your homework first, as your best decision is going to be one made on relevant and accurate information.

Best of luck!
