"Oh! The Places We'll Go...." and they did go - to the Medieval Kingdom through Career Management International's (CMI) KingdomalityÆ Series. AT&T's National Telemarketing Center managers in Marietta, Georgia at a recent retreat, discovered some of them would have been dreamer minstrels, traveling from village to village within the kingdom, lifting spirits with stories of wonderment and possibility. Others would have been discoverers, strategically exploring new lands to expand the size and influence of the kingdom. Still others would have been knights, solving problems and slaying dragons for emotional and financial rewards.
A total of 70 managers participated in KingdomalityÆ, a seminar designed by CMI to enhance the performance of strategic and/or functional work teams. The group learned the various styles individuals use to interact with each other and approach life situations. Using the medieval era as a metaphor, managers were able to discuss their preferred style and assess the team's dominant approach, all in a non-threatening manner. The group left the sessions with a much better understanding of their strengths, both individually and as a team.
Dave Mitchell, CMI's facilitator for the event stated, "The group discovered on this journey through the "Kingdom", that they are very creative, in addition to being "people sensitive", which allows them to be adept at marketing, customer relations and promoting their ideas".
