Younger workers, ages 18 to 34, (18-34) are more than four times more as likely to report feeling angry or mad in the workplace than workers 50 and over according to pollsters at Gallup. Workers in the eastern U.S. are the "maddest" while a slightly fewer percentage of workers in the Midwest, south and west reporting similar feelings, but in less numbers.

The things that make employees angry: general harassment, including sexual harassment - (an estimated 10-15% of all workers are bullied by a co-workers); favoritism; boss insensitivity; depersonalization of the workplace; unfair appraisals; lack of resources training and teamwork; lack of trust; withdrawal of benefits; poor communication and absentee bosses. While we all know that violence in the workplace is the ultimate display of anger, another result of anger and unhappiness in the workplace is loss of big bucks for the company.

A number of employers are beginning to suspect that improving employee work/life satisfaction will have has an important effect on profit. Sears, after an elaborate 800 store study, discovered that if employees' attitudes improve by just 5%, customer satisfaction jumps 1.3 % which in turn increases revenues by .5%. While these percentages may seem minuscule, they translate into millions of dollars in increased profits.
