You Don't Have to Job Hop to Have Job Fulfillment

For Immediate Release
September 15, 1997

With the unemployment rate at nearly a quarter-century low and lay-off fears at the lowest level in three years, the job market has definitely shifted in the favor of the employee. Vacancies and the increased demand for a larger skilled workforce enable workers to dictate employment terms and ask for more pay and signing bonuses. Employers are finding that they must enrich compensation packages and pay more than ever before to attract and retain their employees.

But is job hopping and recruiting from competitors the only way to get ahead? Susan Silvano, President of Career Management InternationalÆ (CMI) says "NO!" and adds "Career development is the answer. Providing comprehensive services that improve the quality of work life and empowering employees to make decisions about their own careers results in higher employee morale and greater productivity for organizations. Employees will be less interested in hopping to another job and more interested in utilizing their strengths to enjoy and succeed in expanded opportunities within a familiar company environment."

CMI provides employers with a number of career development programs that are designed for employee use. The CAP™ allows employees to determine their strength "colors" and compare their unique colors to specific job openings and position descriptions within the company. The CAP™ can be provided to the employees in a printed version or can be accessed through the internet or a company intranet. The Job BoxÆ provides a complete career assessment and career development "course", including instructions for a corporate resume which allows employees to "job shop" within their company . The Job BoxÆ can also be accessed in printed form or through the internet/intranet.
