Texas Longhorn Alumni and Career Management International Join Forces

For Immediate Release
April 14, 1997

What better way to help people with their career transitions than by joining forces with a University? Career Management InternationalÆ (CMI) is partnering with the Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas to provide training and materials to alumni members of the Texas Exes. Jim Boon, Executive Director of the Texas Exes, announced in a recent staff meeting that "This kind of partnership is exactly the direction we intended when we started our Career Management services."

On April 29th from 7-10 p.m., CMI will be opening its doors at 3555 Timmons, Suite 700, Houston, Texas, for the Exes "The Very Quick Job Search" Seminar. Jeff Johannigman, Career Services Director of the Ex-Students Association will instruct attendees in methods for identifying their strengths, creating successful resumes and conducting a successful job search. In addition to the use of their headquarters, CMI is providing its Career Transition Workbook™ to the Ex-Students Association members. Johannigman says, "I plan to use CMI's workbook as the backbone of our career consulting. It covers all facets of career transition very effectively, in an entertaining and easy-to-follow format."

CMI is also making available to the Exes its Career Alignment Profile™, which is an on-line tool to help individuals match their strengths, interests and abilities to a database of available jobs on the internet. A 20 minute assessment allows an individual to compare their three major strengths to job postings on the internet that are good fits. This service is linked to the Texas Exes web site and will help alumni find the "right job". Susan Silvano, President of CMI and a Texas Ex herself, is thrilled to be working with the Exes in this ground breaking endeavor.
