Change. Changing technology. Changing demographics. Changing laws. Changing leadership styles. Changing employment relationships. Nearly every aspect of the business world is changing rapidly as we move towards that heralded next millennium. It is this prospect of rapid change that drew over fifty local business leaders to the Managing Change conference last week at the Houstonian Hotel and Conference Center.
The event, hosted by Career Management International, featured a number of experts on various business areas. Jim "Mac" McIngvale (Mattress Mac) was the keynote speaker and related the personal qualities that he believes successful people will possess in the years to come. Paul Hash with the law firm of Wickliff & Hall outlined the changing legal landscape and Kevin Baer of Corestaff discussed the complexity of managing staff and the ease of outsourcing personnel, while Dave Mitchell, CMI's Vice President, discussed the model for the next millennium's leader and acted as master of ceremonies. In all, eight speakers from different industries shared their opinion on issues they predict will have the most impact on the future of business in America.
"We felt it was important to provide business leaders with a forum to learn about specific business challenges in the future and share their experiences and plans as they prepare for these diverse demands," says Susan Silvano, President of Career Management International. "Many of our client organizations have already undergone some radical change and expect to continue to transform. It is a liberating time, but also very stressful."
Career Management International (CMI) is celebrating its 20th year of business.
