Are you a Helper, Maintainer, Explorer or Challenger?
Chances are you are a helper. Helpers try to always be considerate of others, recognize the importance of tact and find it natural to show appreciation of others. Career Management International (CMI) has found that more than 55% of the people who participate in their Kingdomality™ personal preference profile test are helpers. From grade school students to adults, the percentages are consistent. Maintainers who trust what is certain and concrete and don't like to speculate make up at least 20% of the general population. They are happiest in careers that promise methodical and measured approaches to problem solving. Explorers, who like new ideas for their own sake, continually seek change, and are future oriented, find their niche in project work. Explorers make up less than 15% of the general population. Challengers, who are the most competitive, have a strong desire to improve themselves. This type is analytical and is definitely in the minority with only 10% of people sharing this trait. But what does all this mean?
CMI has been helping people discover their interests, abilities and communication style since 1976. Interestingly, most people who are outplaced realize during their career counseling that their job did not fit their styles and that continued success without extreme stress was almost impossible. For people to be most comfortable in their careers, the job requirements should closely match the characteristics of their style - Helper, Maintainer, Explorer or Challenger.
Career Management International (CMI) is celebrating its 20th year of business.
