Silvano Heads ACF's Government Relations Team!
[ Houston, Texas ]

Susan R. Silvano of Career Management International, Inc. Has Agreed to Lead the ACF Board to Work With the DOL

HOUSTON, November 1, 2005 - Susan R. Silvano, President and owner of Career Management International, Inc. (CMI) has been asked by the board of ACF to work with both organizations to create a model to best support the Department of Labor in the case of natural disasters and terrorist attacks.  As an association, we began working on this model immediately upon our approval from the Department of Labor.

2005 has been a year of natural disasters that have devastated communities and disrupted lives.  The Department of Labor provides job retraining assistance for individuals whose jobs have been impacted by such disasters.  The firms that are members of the ACF have the resources to support these Department of Labor services in all states, and the mutual goal is a seamless partnership between private industry, as represented by ACF, and the Department of Labor.  This ground breaking partnership will allow those who are in need of training or retraining to get services quickly and efficiently.   Silvano is spearheading this effort so that ACF accredited members can become part of the National Emergency Response Re-Employment Standby System (NERRS).

Silvano states, " This partnership is a real leap forward and provides the platform for a public/private partnership on a countrywide scale.  This initiative will allow those in need of service to begin quickly and learn the necessary skills to get reemployed in a short time.  The resulting reemployment will reduce unemployment costs and increase their ability to recover from the disaster."

CMI recognizes the substantial corporate investment in human capital and delivers effective programs required by businesses, government and academia to maximize the return on that investment. Founded in 1976, CMI is headquartered in Houston and has offices throughout the United States. CMI's staff utilizes their creative energy to focus on providing customized solutions to current business challenges."

Susan R. Silvano is President & CEO of Career Management International, Inc. (CMI). CMI, a woman-owned firm, has been providing Career Transition and HR Consulting services since 1976.
