In July of this year Career Management InternationalÆ (CMI)
encouraged job seekers not to let the lazy hazy days of summer
slow down their job search as the summer months often offer ideal
times to look for a new career or position. CMI's career
counselors were especially eager to see how their clients, 800
separating employees from the Dow Chemical Company in Freeport,
Texas would fair in this "zero employment" job market.
The counselors believed the downsized employees would be
reemployed quickly by beginning to interview shortly after their
separation. Another part of the "success equation"
requires CMI clients to interview regularly in order to keep
their job search activities and skills taught by CMI in high
gear.
After analyzing the data, CMI was not surprised to find that of the 800 outplaced workers, almost half had made the retirement decisions or had found new employment within 60 days of being outplaced. These results were tremendously rewarding to both the separating employees and CMI counselors. A total of approximately 70% found new jobs in 90 days, retired, started their own businesses or went back to school for further education. CMI boasts a success rate of 96%
