Good Jobs Are Easier To Find Than Good Employees

For Immediate Release
January 12, 1997

The unemployment rate is at its lowest now than it's been in six years. This is good news for those trying to join the work force, but not so great for companies looking to hire. According to USA Today, new job applicants are more likely to be actively looking for work elsewhere, taking illegal drugs, or breaking the law. They are more likely to be hired. Why? Because so many people are already employed, good workers can be few and far between.

An HR manager's job in this market becomes even more important and demanding. The human resource departments must find a source of competent potential employees, which they can draw from when necessary. It is also imperative to use employees effectively once they have been hired. This, combined with a necessity to retain good workers once they have been trained, makes for a tall order for any HR manager.

In order to assist employers and potential employees alike, Career Management International has recently completed an on-line strength assessment tool. It allows job seekers to present themselves and their skills to hiring authorities world wide. An individual's strengths and talents are determined and listed on a computer screen for employers to read and compare with their hiring needs. A second application allows companies to market themselves to a wider band of potential employees. This creates a virtually infinite bank of job seekers and job givers that matches needs to demands. What is this internet job fair called? It's called CAP™, short for Career Alignment Profile™. And it's been put together by Career Management International.
