HOUSTON (September 3, 2003) Career Management International, Inc. (CMI) headed to Albany, NY August 25th and 26th for the 12th annual NASA Technology and Business conference.
The NASA Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization sponsored the event along with NASA headquarters and the NASA New England Outreach Center. As a women-owned small business, CMI took advantage of conference meetings to build partnerships with NASA and NASA-affiliated organizations such as Boeing, Raytheon and United Space Alliance.
CMI Representatives participated as both exhibitors and vendors and were warmly welcomed by Glenn W. Wright, Director of the NASA New England Research Center, and Tony Diamond, Small Business Advisor, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, NASA, in Washington, D.C. Both encouraged CMI to leverage the Conference opportunity to network and learn about NASA technology and business programs, including supplier diversity business partnerships for the 21st Century.
Deirdre Magee, CMI executive located in the Northern Virginia office said "Our objective was to learn even more about the work force planning needs in the federal and private sectors. We were also interested in sharing our knowledge and expertise in best business practices, resulting from our extensive work in corporate America, academia and the federal, state, and local government sectors."
CMI staff met individually with over a dozen procurement representatives from industry, NASA, and other federal sector agencies to learn more about their workforce challenges and to present CMI's service options for mutually beneficial career transition and HR consulting opportunities.
As an approved federal sector vendor, CMI understands the challenges faced by government agencies, as well as by corporate enterprises. Both the federal and private sectors are experiencing a growing need for Human Resource Development (HRD) training, and HR consulting services in the areas of recruitment and retention, change management, performance management, skills mix and gap analysis. CMI assists organizations in improving employees' well-being and in making improvements which positively impact work force productivity and employee retention.
Some federal agencies are undergoing workforce changes due to the planned privatization of certain functions. CMI looks forward to the opportunity to continue to provide federal sector agencies with career transition services for redeployed and displaced employees.
"We are pleased to have had this opportunity to meet and build our professional relationships with procurement representatives of NASA and its contractors. CMI has been a leader in outplacement and HR strategic planning and consulting for over 27 years, and we are energized by the applications we see for our products within the aerospace community, " said Susan Silvano, president of CMI.
