Organizes New Texas
Chapter
HOUSTON - April 26, 2004) - Susan R. Silvano, President and owner of Career Management International, Inc. (CMI) has been selected to facilitate a new Houston Women Presidents' Organization (WPO) chapter which will begin meeting in May 2004.
WPO is expanding into Texas and Marsha Firestone, President of WPO will be in Dallas May 6 and in Houston May 7 for the Texas kick-off meetings. Donna Hegdahl, President of The TransSynergy Group will facilitate the WPO Dallas event on May 6. CMI's Carol Giardina will be co-facilitator at the May 7 meeting at the beautiful Houstonian hotel and CMI's CFO, Becky Hall will also be available to greet potential new members. Caroline N. Gundeck, Director of Women's Business Development, Merrill Lynch will host the event on behalf of Merrill Lynch.
A primary mission of establishing WPO groups in key cities throughout the country is to create an informal "board of directors" with whom local WPO members can discuss strategies for growing their businesses, strategize the next step in their organizational development, or analyze case studies of their own businesses. As a national organization, the WPO member objectives include: - To increase the business and financial success of women entrepreneurs. - To provide a confidential environment in which women presidents of diverse backgrounds can openly discuss issues and concerns, celebrate their successes, and develop innovative solutions to business challenges. - To provide continuing education in business and leadership. - To increase awareness of women's issues and opportunities. - To provide a local and national forum where women presidents can make strategic contacts, and promote business development. - To increase the visibility of women entrepreneurs on the local and national level. - To provide business resources including monthly newsletters, a Web site, media referrals, a national membership directory, annual national meetings, and preferential sponsor benefits. - To advance the influence of women in the business and financial community. - Our members tell us that WPO meetings create an electric synergy resulting from women collaborating and supporting one another that is unmatched by other organizations. - To return to their businesses reenergized and remotivated.
WPO membership is by invitation only, and invitations are extended to women business owners of service companies making more $1MM and non-service companies making more than $2MM or more annually. There are a limited number of invitations held for interested qualifying women executives. Please contact Carol Giardina at carolg@careermanagement.com or Susan Silvano at susans@careermanagement.com or (713-623-8780) for more information.
