Susan Silvano,
Outplacement Leader and
Innovator
HOUSTON (March 15, 2004) Susan R. Silvano, President and owner of Career Management International, Inc. (CMI) was in active attendance at the February 25-28, 2004 Women Presidents' Organization (WPO) Conference in San Francisco, California. The WPO conference was well attended, and the 350 attendees discussed business issues ranging from, "What would you do if you lost your largest client?" to, "How do you plan to continue to pay for greatly escalating health care costs at your company?"
Silvano and six other entrepreneurs were selected to participate in the Money Magazine Focus Group at the WPO conference. Money Magazine interviewed the group, providing a forum for women CEOs to discuss a number of challenges, including: leading staff and mentoring them for improved performance; growing a business; obtaining financing and the importance of maintaining a substantial credit line; gearing up for large jobs while continuing to be cost efficient, and the importance of keeping major clients; and what to do if a major client moves to a competitor. Focus group views will be published in an upcoming Money Magazine issue.
Silvano was nominated and considered for the WPO Mary Lehman MacLachlan Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Silvano was recognized and nominated because of her outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial growth and profitable business initiatives. Silvano also qualified through her support of other business women in her community as well as the WPO mission, "To improve business conditions for women entrepreneurs and to promote the acceptance and advancement of women entrepreneurs in all industries." Toward that end, Silvano is a key leader in forming the WPO Texas group to begin meeting in May, 2004.
