Susan R. Silvano

.

Prior to beginning Career Management International, Inc. in 1976, Susan spent four years as a guidance counselor and school psychologist in Rhode Island. Her main interest at that time was developing curricula that would assist students in realizing their career potential. During this period, she wrote and administered a federal project "Survival '71", to further the career and vocational education of selected students.

Previously, Susan had worked for several years with special education students, teaching skills and planning appropriate vocational areas for each pupils' ability level. Her interest throughout her career has been in assisting individuals to maximize their emotional and vocational potentials.

.

Susan conducts numerous seminars in the areas of human resource development, stress management, quality, communications, and productivity; counsels clients in career enhancement, job transition and retirement; and assists corporations in planning successful individual and group outplacement programs.

Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas (Austin), and her Master of Guidance and Counseling degree at Florida Atlantic University, with advanced studies in statistics, human behavior/development, and psychology at both Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island.

Richard Silvano (Retired)

.

Richard spent almost a third of a century counseling people of all ages with a specific focus upon managing their career future. His specialty was in helping individuals identify those career areas in which they could best utilize their natural abilities and interests, as well as in showing them how to deal effectively with the problems and obstacles that could hamper their vocational growth.

.

A varied background provided the educational and professional experience necessary to create the many tools and programs that are being used today by the staff of Career Management International, Inc.

Upon completion of graduate studies in Florida, Richard was offered the position of coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services for the State of Rhode Island. Within a year's time, he had accepted the additional responsibilities of the state's federally funded innovative education, as well as the education for the gifted. The following year, he began his transition to the private sector where career counseling was still in its infancy.

While at the Rhode Island Department of Education, and later in the corporate world, Richard made significant contributions to the educational and business communities which included: separate legislation for education of the gifted; the development of a national model for career education; and two proven tools for career focus. The first tool, an identification instrument, is still in use today with some minor modifications. This tool helps individuals to accurately determine their abilities and interests. The second tool is an ability/interest bridge that enables the user to identify career areas within the "Dictionary of Occupational Titles" and is currently being developed as a computerized instrument by a major university.

Richard was a pioneer in career counseling, outplacement counseling and employee training and development.

Richard worked for more than thirty years with numerous organizations, institutions and corporations, helping them all to realize the full potential of their most precious investment - their human resources.

We wish him well in his retirement.
